Our giving for September was $9,700, which stopped our free-fall crash from this summer. The summer left us with a hangover of concerns haunting us:

• Each month we need to give about $2,000 above this month’s giving! That means an average of $11,500 per month for the rest of the year...ouch!
  
• Our buffer is keeps us dangerously-close to shutting down! We’re $3,000 below the amount needed for one month’s operating expenses

Please remember our finances. It seems like a nuisance, but to our Lord and Savior it is something he calls us to be faithful with (see Lk 16:9-11). All our ministries and ministers depend on it.

The NeoXenos DMT Retreat of 2009 was the most edifying leaders’ retreat to date. We gathered in Marblehead, Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie at the Rock of Ages Retreat Center. This year the number of leaders exceeded the capacity for the house. We had 44 leaders attend! (With sleeping for only 36, where did that leave the others?)  Our college guys graciously volunteered to sleep on couches and floors.

In the past year, we’ve undergone quite a few changes. Persecution and its resultant publicity, love ethics, new college ministry, a hopping high school group, and an emphasis on our freedom in Christ, revolution, and disestablishment.  Religion kills, but relationship kicks butt.

I can’t wait to see what this coming year is going to bring. We don’t know what it will be, but…we know we’re gonna follow the Spirit on this.

Our 2009 Basic Christianity Class will begin on Wednesday, October 21st at 7:30pm at the home of Ted and Indre Howell.

If you are a new Christian or have never had any training in systematic theology, this class is a good place to start. It provides basic information on topics such as Christology, Bibliology, Pneumatology, Ecclesiology, and Satanology. And if you don’t know what these words mean, that’s one good reason to take the class.

These are the basic topics covered in class.

2. Who is Jesus?

Week Three

1. The Holy Spirit
2. Growing spiritually

Week Four

1. Understanding the Bible

2. Is there such a thing as spiritual warfare?

Week Seven

1. Final Exam and PARTY!
2. There are a few quizzes, some memory verses, and a final exam.
